The new banknotes have dropped political figures, including Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The redesigned currency note of 'Taka' features cultural landmarks and landscapes. Bangladesh authorities say the move is a step towards depoliticizing national symbols amid political tension. The banknotes will include images of Hindu, Buddhist temples amidst concerns over growing radicalism and erosion of minority rights in Bangladesh.
