In what is being seen as a move by the interim government in Bangladesh to clamp down on dissent by government employees, protests have erupted in Bangladesh adding to problems of the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government in Bangladesh. Protests also took place in the secretariat for the fourth day amidst heavy security deployment. Protesting officials and employees of the secretariat say they will continue with their demonstration until the "Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025" is completely withdrawn. The ordinance allowed the Ministry of Public Administration to dismiss public servants for misconduct without lengthy procedures which are seen as safeguards against arbitrary dismissals, sparking outrage across the bureaucracy.
