US Vice President JD Vance and his wife, the Indian-American Second Lady, Usha Vance, landed in Delhi this morning for a four-day visit to India. Mr Vance, along with his family, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi this evening. The discussion between the two leaders likely focussed on an early finalisation of the proposed bilateral trade pact and ways to bolster India-US ties. The Prime Minister also host a dinner for the Vances after the talks.
Mr Vance's plane landed at the Palam Technical Area in New Delhi. After Delhi, the Vance family will be visiting Jaipur on April 22 and Agra on April 23.

In India, JD Vance was greeted with a red carpet welcome, complete with honour guard and troupes of folk dancers. Mr Vance's visit comes during an escalating trade war between the United States and China. India's neighbour and rival faces US levies of up to 145 percent on many products.

What HD Vance Said About Akshardham Temple Visit
US Vice President JD Vance and his family visited the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple near the banks of the Yamuna earlier today. After the visit, he wrote in the temple guest book that his "kids loved it (the experience)".
"Thank you all so much for your hospitality and kindness in welcoming me and my family to this beautiful place. It is a great credit to India that you built a beautiful temple with precision and care. Our kids, in particular, loved it. God bless," the vice president wrote in the temple guest book.

JD Vance, Family Visit Delhi Cottage Emporium
US Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by his Indian-origin wife Usha and their three children, on Monday visited the Central Cottage Industries Emporium (CCIE) located in Janpath in the national capital, where they purchased some traditional Indian handicrafts.
The Vances, who landed in Delhi this morning, began their India visit with a morning tour of the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, situated near the banks of the Yamuna. Later, they stopped by the Cottage Emporium, a government-run showroom known for authentic handloom and handicraft products from across India.
JD Vance's children steal hearts in traditional Indian attire
US Vice-President JD Vance's three children won hearts today in India when they landed in Delhi dressed in tradition Indian attire. Eight-year-old Ewan wore a grey kurta while his five-year-old brother Vivek was dressed in yellow, with both pairing their kurtas with white pyjamas. Vance's three-year-old daughter Mirabel was dressed in a teal green anarkali suit and a jacket.

Trump's Global Trade War Hangs Over JD Vance's India Visit
US Vice President JD Vance's visit to India beginning Monday takes place against the backdrop of a global trade war that President Donald Trump sparked, but the cross-country tour also offers both political and personal significance for the vice president.
Vance arrived on Monday as the US is threatening to increase the 10% tariffs on Indian exports to 26% if no deal is reached by the end of the 90-day pause Trump put in place earlier this month.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to host Vance for a bilateral meeting, the White House said. The talks are consequential for the Indian leader, who has sought to position his country as a leader of the Global South - a group of emerging economies - in hopes of gaining influence on the world stage.
