Amid an ongoing prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine following the Istanbul talks, Russia attacked Ukraine's capital. In a major blow, Moscow ramped up its offensive against Kyiv, launching one of the biggest combined aerial attacks of the 3-year war. According to Ukraine's Air Force, Russia attacked the country with 298 drones and 69 missiles, pounding the capital in a massive blitz. Ukraine's Air Force further reported that it had downed 45 missiles and 266 drones. Ukraine also launched an attack as Russian defences shot down 110 drones overnight, including 13 over Moscow and Tver, said Russia's Defence Ministry. However, The Defence Ministry did not report any casualties in Moscow or nearby cities. Russian strikes on Kyiv and nearby towns on early hours of May 25 injured 11 and killed three. The attacks extended to a string of regional centres, including Ukraine's second-largest city, Kharkiv, as well as Mykolaiv. Several apartment buildings were damaged and blasts shattered windows in high-rise apartment blocks.
