'World's Saddest Polar Bear' Trapped in Chinese Mall Needs Your Help

Shortly after the death of 'world's saddest  polar bear' Arturo, another bear has been given the same title after a video of the hapless animal lying listlessly on the floor of its enclosure in a Chinese shopping centre began circulating online.

The video, posted in March but going viral now, shows the polar bear in a deplorable condition, lying helplessly in a stark blue display. The polar bear is among several other animals at the mall's Grandview Aquarium in Guangzhou, China, confined there just so visitors can take pictures.

Animal Asia, a charity that rescues and cares for endangered species, shared the video urging people to sign an online petition to close the aquarium.

"This polar bear needs all our help. We must end this. We are all absolutely distraught for this poor sad animal. A shopping mall is no place for this," it says on Facebook.

The cause has since gained impetus and already has over 1.7 lakh signatures in favour of shutting the 'saddest zoo in the world.'

Since being posted on March 7, the video has amassed over 1.7 lakh views on Facebook and 1.4 lakh views on YouTube. Several other versions of the video are also being shared on social media. Take a look below:
