The President of the United States Of America, Donald Trump is currently under fire for the matter of immigrant children camps. The issue has garnered media attention on a large-scale and donations from celebrities like Chrissy Teigen to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has been making rounds. But it hasn't stopped there. On Thursday, First Lady of the United States Melania Trump made a visit to a children's shelter in Texas but not before making a sartorial statement that made headlines almost instantly.
To travel, Melania wore a white hued shirt, skinny jeans and sneakers covered up by an olive green hooded jacket with a scrawled caption over the back that said, "I really don't care, do u?" Although Melania's jacket was removed inside, her statement to the media while travelling was apparent. Once sighted in the controversial look, her choice of ensemble completely overshadowed her visit to the location.

Expectantly enough, questions arose as to who Melania's statement is being directed to - the current U.S. admiration? Migrants? The press? Melania's husband and the U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted with an answer to put the matter to rest.
"I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?" written on the back of Melania's jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!

According to The New York Times, in a statement to reporters the first lady's director of communications Stephanie Grisham said, "It's a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today's important visit to Texas, I hope this isn't what the media is going to choose to focus on." Many however, chose to disagree. Soon, #NotJustAJacket and #JustAJacket was formed and widely tweeted with opinions that claimed that the $39 Zara jacket was not just a fashionable coverup but a political statement.
She chose to wear THAT jacket. In 90 degree weather. When she knew the world would be watching. #notjustajacket

Fashion is a form of non-verbal communication. A black draped funeral guest, a dress-code adhering employee, a goth teen...our wardrobe choices send a message. For a public figure, the effect is amplified. Any argument to the contrary is, frankly, naive. #notjustajacket

Melania trump rocked a $39 jacket from Zara should have been the first clue that it's NOT #JUSTaJacket https://t.co/lqbicxNzkU

Over the past few hours, Melania's latest choice of clothing has been largely criticised. Parallels are being drawn between Marie Antoinette and her. Her sudden pick of high street label Zara (when she's usually in designers like Balmain or Dolce & Gabbana) is being questioned. Whether or not Melania intended it to make a statement or just casually threw it on, that didn't stop it from being an insensitive choice, especially considering her purpose and audience being visited.
