Sayani Gupta Takes A Walk Down Memory Lane In Her Mom's Saree

With most of our hours being spent indoors, now is a better time than any to revisit times gone by. If you need any inspiration, all of Bollywood has been dusting off the photo albums and sharing their adorable baby pictures. Sayani Gupta has taken a different route. The actress shared a slideshow of pictures with her Instagram followers that got a whole lot of love in the comments. Though they were taken only a few months ago in January 2020, the story behind it is a novel one.

Here's what Sayani captioned her photo, "Things we do for auditions.. this was in January. @deepalid10 had ever so sweetly come to do my hair. Had done my own make up. Wore mom's 40 year old.. tusser benarasi saree. Felt totally in one with my Bong genes. Was pretty sure I would get the part. But didn't. It could be because of the blue nails that I couldn't get rid of in time."

For an audition that Sayani had to attend, the actress dressed up in traditional garb that showcased her Bengali roots. Her outfit of choice was her mother's cream Banarasi saree with a red and gold emblazoned border which dates back to 4 decades ago. We may not know the character she was auditioning for but we do know that it definitely stayed true to her Bengali roots. And that's only the fashion factor of her complete ensemble.

She did one better with her beauty. Accompanied by her long-time hairstylist Deepali Deokar who styled her hair in tight curls pulled into an updo, Sayani also played her own makeup artist for the audition. The actress paired her outfit with naturally brushed back eyebrows, winged eyeliner, coral toned eyes and neutral lips which she did to perfection.

Signing off, Sayani says that even though she thought she'd get the part, it might have been her blue nails that led to lose it. We say to that at least she a fabulous look out of it and showcased her amazing makeup skills to the rest of us!
