Almost every year, Amazon India Fashion Week is held at NSIC exhibition grounds, New Delhi. Like we said earlier, this year around it’s more of a celebration! Fdci partnering up with Nexa, 30 years of presenting us with a platform for fashion, 5 designers completing a milestone in the fashion industry is what Amazon India Fashion Week S/S’18 is all about.
The day started with Nargis Fakhri posing and laughing at the Amazon lounge in a white Anarkali, looking stunning as always.
A while later, internationally acclaimed artist, Seema Kohli’s art installation was inaugurated by the FDCI president, Sunil Sethi.
‘The idea behind getting an artist to showcase her work at the Fashion Week is because all designers also identify themselves as artists,’ says Sunil Sethi.
Rimzim Dadu’s opening show was all about the surface texture developments she’s learnt in her career so far. From chiffon cording, to appliqué, to fabric created from wires, you name it and it was there. We’re majorly crushing on the furry sliders and the ‘wired’ sarees! But the ready to wear garments stole the show.
Up next was, Unleashed - a brand launched by Kara Ross under her Unleashed World project which empowers women around the world. This brand was launched in order to empower Indian women living in villages under the poverty level. Nargis Fakhri walked the ramp in a black top which had a frontline zipper paired with sequined silver pants. A pair of white sneakers and a black choker were added to give it a casual, everyday vibe.
Anupama Dayal was as always a riot of colours, already making us look forward to Summer 2018!
Milind Soman was the show stopper for Nida Mahmood. The big white bindis and septum rings were to die for.
The sun set and the party started, there was an African tribal band playing, the bar was open and it finally felt like Fashion Week. The day concluded with JJ Valaya marking his 25 years in the industry. Traditional silhouettes and his antique embroideries were the best part about the show. Designer Rahul Mishra also walked the ramp.
Day 1 is over and we have 4 more days to go! Are you ready?
