One of the most common telltale signs that hair fall problems are lurking around the corner is when you wake up to find few strands of hair on your pillow or a far-too-large clump of hair collecting when you shower. While the average person loses between 50 to 150 strands of hair every day, any more than that is usually a sign that something is wrong. If you've noticed any of these signs and suffer from hair fall, here's how to deal with this annoying, but common hair care problem.
What causes hair fall?
It isn't easy to pinpoint a cause when it comes to hair fall as they are numerous internal and external factors that can result in it. Sometimes, something as simple as tying your hair too tight or using a shampoo that's too harsh can cause it. Other times, it could be caused due to hereditary factors, undernourishment or even alopecia.
What do you do if you suffer from hair fall?
First things first, don't panic. Really though, because stress is also a factor that can cause hair loss. Over the course of the next few weeks, notice the kind of hair fall you are facing. If it's just a few strands that are well within the average range, then it's normal.
If large clumps of hair are coming off, your hairline is thinning or hair growth appears patchy, head to a trichologist. A professional hair specialist will find out your family history and lifestyle to filter any factors like recent medication that may be causing the side effect. Doctors may also take a hair and scalp sample for an analysis or run a blood test to determine if your hair fall is being caused due to biological factors.
How can hair fall be treated naturally?
Like many beauty troubles, hair fall too can be treated in the kitchen with patience and the right ingredients. Use these two hair packs twice a week for a month to see results. If your hair fall persists even after these remedies, the cause could be internal for which, a trichologist's consultation is your best bet.
1. Fenugreek Mask
Mix 2 tablespoons of powdered fenugreek (methi) seeds with 3 tablespoons of olive oil and blend into a thin paste. Massage it into your scalp and the roots of your hair then leave it to settle for 30 minutes. Follow this by washing with a mild shampoo and warm water. Fenugreek is a time-tested remedy that encourages new growth from the scalp.
2. Hibiscus Mask
In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of crushed hibiscus petals with 3 tablespoons of fresh ginger juice until they form a smooth paste. Then section your hair and massage this mixture over the roots of the hair as well as the scalp. Leave it for an hour and wash off with warm water. With both hibiscus and ginger being powerful growth stimulants, they revive strands from dormant follicles.
