Over 150 snakes found from the basement of the house
Forest officials say the snakes may have found a safe place for mating
The snakes were later released in the forest
The retired forest official, Jitendra Mishra, found two snakes coiled together in his room and captured them by taking the help of his neighbours, news agency ANI reported.
However, more than 150 snakes were found in the house soon after.
"Initially two to three snakes came out but by the end of the day lot of snakes came out. Then we hired a person to retrieve those snakes," the owner of the house, Jitendra Mishra, told news agency ANI.
"We can draw a lot of reasons behind this incident, but one of the reasons is mating. Snakes tend to find safe place in order to mate. We are probing the matter further," said Divisional Forest Officer Sanjay Biswal.
The snakes were later released in the forest, the ANI report said.
