Pahalgam Terror Attack Updates: The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Anil Chauhan, today met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his official residence in Delhi amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. The attack in Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead on April 22.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the terrorists and their "patrons" want Kashmir to be "destroyed again”. He said the perpetrators and conspirators of the Pahalgam attack will be "served with the harshest response".
"I can feel that the blood of every Indian is on the boil after seeing the pictures of the terrorist attack," he said in his monthly radio broadcast 'Mann Ki Baat'.
"The attack shows the desperation of the patrons of terrorism; displays their cowardice… at a time when peace was returning to Kashmir, there was a vibrancy in schools and colleges, construction work had gained unprecedented pace, democracy was getting stronger, the number of tourists was increasing at a record rate, people's income was increasing, new opportunities were being created for the youth," PM Modi added.

UP Woman Stopped At Attari Border While Trying To Return To Husband In Pak
An Indian woman has been allegedly stopped at the Attari-Wagah border point in Punjab from crossing into Pakistan after the Centre ordered Pakistani nationals to leave in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
While the woman, Sana, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Meerut who is married to a Pakistani citizen, was stopped because she had an Indian passport, her children, a three-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter, were allowed to leave as they had Pakistani passports.
The 30-year-old was among the short-term visa holders who were ordered to leave India by Sunday.
Sana, who got married to Bilal, a doctor in Karachi, in 2020, had recently come to her hometown to meet her parents.
Sana said she was told by the officials to leave the country when the Centre issued a notice, asking Pakistani nationals to return after 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed by Pakistan-linked terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22.
Accompanied by her family members, she then left for the Attari-Wagah border with her children on Friday. She, however, was stopped and told to return to Meerut because of her Indian passport.
"My children can't stay here and I can't go there," she told reporters.
"My husband had also come to the border to receive us," she said.
Sana said this was her second trip to India after her marriage, with the first one being about 3 years ago.
Calling for the "strictest" punishment for those behind the Pahalgam attack, she appealed to the government to let her and her children go to Pakistan.

"Pakistan Ratna": BJP After Siddaramiah Remark Makes Headline Across Border
A day after his "not in favour of war with Pakistan" remark sparked a massive row, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah today clarified that he "never said we should not go to war".

RB Timmapur, Karnataka's Excise Minister, told the media that he did not think the killers asked the targets' religion before shooting them. "A man who is shooting, will he ask caste or religion? He will just shoot and go. Think practically. He will not stand there, ask and then shoot," he said. The minister said the country is upset over the heinous attack and alleged that a "conspiracy" was being plotted to paint this as a religious issue. "I feel they didn't ask about religion when they were carrying out the terror attack. In case they did, there shouldn't be this madness of using such a statement to politicise the issue based on religion," the minister in the Congress government said.

How India Plans To Stem Flow Of Indus Water To Pakistan
Emphasising the importance of suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil has said India will ensure that not even a "drop of water" from the Indus river goes to Pakistan.
Mr Patil said this in a post on Friday after a meeting at Home Minister Amit Shah's residence, which was also attended by top officials.
"The historic decision taken by the Modi government on the Indus Water Treaty is completely justified and in the national interest. We will ensure that not even a drop of water from the Indus River goes to Pakistan," Mr Patil wrote in Hindi on X.
The suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 was announced by India on Wednesday as part of a series of steps taken after the terror attack in Pahalgam.
Among the options that are on the table in the short term, the Centre is looking at de-silting existing dams on the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab and increasing reservoir capacity, all of which will reduce the water flowing into Pakistan.
Pakistan has been objecting to two hydroelectric projects by India - Kishenganga on a tributary of the Jhelum and Ratle, which is under construction on a tributary of the Chenab. The suspension of the treaty will allow India to ignore Pakistan's objections.
In the longer term, building new dams and infrastructure on these rivers is also something that is being considered.

Pahalgam Attack Updates: Iran Seeks To Defuse India-Pakistan Tensions
Amid soaring tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, Iran has reached out to its "two brotherly neighbours" to de-escalate the situation.
"India and Pakistan are brotherly neighbors of Iran, enjoying relations rooted in centuries-old cultural and civilizational ties. Like other neighbors, we consider them our foremost priority," Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said in a social media post on Friday.
Mr Araghchi said Tehran stands "ready to use its good offices in Islamabad and New Delhi to "forge greater understanding at this difficult time" in line with the spirit of Persian poet Saadi.

Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: Donald Trump Says Attack "Was A Bad One"
US President Donald Trump has said that there have "always been tensions" between India and Pakistan, as relations between the two neighbours worsened after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam left 26 people dead this week.
"I am very close to India and I'm very close to Pakistan, as you know. And they've had that fight for 1,000 years in Kashmir... Probably longer than that," he told reporters as he travelled aboard Air Force One to Rome for Pope Francis' funeral.
"It was a bad one," he said, referring to Tuesday's attack in Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, which was the deadliest one in Jammu and Kashmir in recent times.

"There have been tensions on that border for 1,500 years. So you know, the same as it's been, but they'll get it figured out one way or the other. I'm sure... I know both leaders. There is great tension between Pakistan and India. But there always has been," President Trump added.
