Pahalgam Terror Attack Updates: India brought up the Pahalagam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed, the largest number of civilian casualties since the horrific 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008, at the United Nations. Calling itself the "victim of cross border terrorism", India flagged the Pakistan Defence Minister's "open confession" to training and funding terrorists.
Ambassador Yojna Patel, India's Deputy Permanent Representative at the UN, said his confession was not surprising and it exposed Pakistan as a "rogue state" that has been fuelling global terrorism.
"The world can no longer turn a blind eye," added Ambassador Patel.
On the sidelines, on the night of April 28-29, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the fifth consecutive night. However, the Indian Army responded in a "measured and effective" manner, officials said.
The firing took place in areas opposite Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor sector.
On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the security security preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack. The meeting came a day after Mr Singh met the Chief of General Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan to discuss the key decisions taken up by the military to counter Pakistan following the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Chief of People's Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Ministers of all states to intervene and ensure the safety of Kashmiri students living in the country.

PM Modi To Hold Key Meet On Security Tomorrow, Second Since Pahalgam Attack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a key meeting on security tomorrow. It will be the second meeting since the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. The terrorist attack took 26 lives, including a Kashmiri local.
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) - the country's highest decision-making body on national security - will hold a meeting around 11 am. Security preparations are likely to be discussed at this meeting.

48 Resorts, Tourist Sites In J&K Shut Days After Pahalgam Terror Attack
The Jammu and Kashmir government has shut dozens of resorts and more than half of the tourist destinations in the Union territory. The preventive move came amid security concerns, days after a terror attack at the scenic meadows of Pahalgam left 26 civilians dead.
At least 48 resorts have been shut in the Union territory known for its serene valleys and picturesque mountains. Several tourist sites like Doodhpatri in Budgam and Verinag in Anantnag have also been made out of bounds to tourists.

In 2024, India's Military Expenditure Was Nearly 9 Times That Of Pak: Report
India's military spending in 2024 was nearly nine times that of Pakistan's expenditure, according to a study released on Monday by a leading Swedish think-tank that comes amid growing tensions between the two countries over the Pahalgam attack.
India's military expenditure, the fifth largest globally, grew by 1.6 per cent to USD 86.1 billion while Pakistan's spent USD 10.2 billion, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
The top five military spenders -- the United States, China, Russia, Germany and India -- accounted for 60 per cent of the global total, with combined spending of USD 1635 billion, it said.
China's military expenditure increased by 7.0 per cent to an estimated USD 314 billion, marking three decades of consecutive growth, the study noted.
Pahalgam Attack: All Pak Citizens, Except 1, Deported After Centre's Orders: Uttar Pradesh
All Pakistani citizens barring one have been "expelled" from Uttar Pradesh under the Centre's orders after the Pahalgam terror attack, the state government said on Monday.
The last Pakistani citizen is set to be deported on Wednesday and is under constant surveillance by police and intelligence agencies, the government said in a statement.
In response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, the central government had issued immediate advisories for all states to repatriate Pakistani nationals.
Director General of Police Prashant Kumar confirmed that under the chief minister's guidance, comprehensive steps were implemented statewide to repatriate Pakistani nationals, according to the statement.
"100 per cent of Pakistani citizens have been deported, with local police teams escorting them to the border. Only one Pakistani national remains, set to be deported on April 30," the DGP was quoted in the statement.
"Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the first state in India to execute such swift and comprehensive action against Pakistani citizens, ensuring their return with full verification at the border," it added.

Centre Writes To BBC Over Its Report On Pahalgam Terror Attack
The Centre has warned BBC over a headline that read, "Pakistan suspends visas for Indians after deadly Kashmir attack on tourists". Several social media users had pointed out that the headline read as if "India killed the tourists".

Centre Blocks 16 Pak YouTube Channels, Writes To BBC Over J&K Reportage
16 Pakistani YouTube channels with a total of 63 million subscribers have been banned in India for spreading provocative and communally sensitive content in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, according to government sources. The YouTube channels have been banned on the Union Home Ministry's recommendations.
The banned platforms include YouTube channels of news outlets Dawn, Samaa TV, ARY News, Bol News, Raftar, Geo News and Suno News. YouTube channels of journalists Irshad Bhatti, Asma Shirazi, Umar Cheema and Muneeb Farooq have also been banned. Other handles that have been banned include The Pakistan Reference, Samaa Sports, Uzair Cricket and Razi Naama.
Upon trying to access either of the 16 banned YouTube channels, a message shows: "This content is currently unavailable in this country because of an order from the government related to national security or public order. For more details about government removal requests, please visit the Google Transparency Report (transparencyreport.google.com)."
10,000 CCTV Cameras To Monitor Safety And Security At Mumbai Railway Stations
Following the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir on April 22, in which 22 people died, the Railway Police has tightened security across public places in Mumbai. Effective monitoring is being done through 10,000 CCTV cameras at the stations and their surrounding areas.
There are 139 railway stations on the Central and Western Railways, from which about 3,200 local trains ply daily. 75-80 lakh passengers travel by these trains every day.
Security arrangements have been especially strengthened at major stations like Churchgate, Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra Terminus, Borivali on Western Railway route and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Kalyan on the Central Railway.

Businessman Robert Vadra on Monday clarified his recent remarks on the Pahalgam terror attack and stated that his intentions were "misinterpreted", further stating that it was his responsibility to clarify them.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday conveyed to his British counterpart David Lammy, India's policy of "zero tolerance" for terrorism while discussing the "cross-border" links to the dastardly terror attack in Pahalgam.
Citing "cross-border linkages" to the horrific Pahalgam attack, India has promised severe punishment to those involved in the strike that triggered wide-spread outrage within India and abroad.
The Pakistan Foreign Office said Deputy Prime Minister Dar spoke to Mr Lammy and "reiterated Pakistan's unwavering resolve to defend its national interests while continuing to promote peace and stability in the region".
First Targeted Firing In Poonch Sector As Pak Violates Ceasefire Again
Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing, violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the fourth straight night, officials said this morning.
The exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani troops started after 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam last Tuesday.
