On Sidelines of Shobhaagate, Sonam and Abhijeet Exchange Heated Tweets

New Delhi: Almost everyone has been offended by columnist Shobhaa De's tweets attacking India's Olympians but several folks on Twitter have also criticised the abuse she has faced in the last two days. One of these is actress Sonam Kapoor who has been fighting a separate battle on the sidelines of the controversy over Ms De's tweets.

In a tweet late Tuesday, singer Abhijeet described Ms De as 'shameless' and said she was 'abusing and cursing (her) own motherland.' It began an argument with Sonam, 31, who red-flagged the tweet as being hypocritical. Abhijeet, known for his right-wing views, is being investigated by the police for abusive tweets against a female journalist.

To the singer's tweet on Shobhaa De, Sonam responded with:

In turn, Abhijeet attacked Sonam, daughter of actor Anil Kapoor:
