Judwaa 2 Box Office Collection, Day 5: Will Varun Dhawan's Film Rank Second To Baahubali 2?

New Delhi: Diwali is later this month but Varun Dhawan's Judwaa 2 is already setting off fireworks at the box office. In 2017, Judwaa 2 is the third Bollywood film after Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Baahubali 2 to have made over Rs 80 crores in five days. Sharing its box office progress report, trade analyst Taran Adarsh writes: "Judwaa 2 stays SUPER-STRONG on crucial Tue... Fri 16.10 cr, Sat 20.55 cr, Sun 22.60 cr, Mon 18 cr, Tue 8.05 cr. Total: Rs 85.30 cr. India biz." Judwaa 2 makers will be happy to know that the movie's box office performance is being compared with that of the magnum opus Baahubali 2, the Hindi version of which scored above Rs 86 crore on the first weekend alone. Baahubali 2 has redefined box office history after having crossed the Rs 1,500 crore mark with its overall ticket sales.

In a separate tweet, Mr Adarsh added: "Judwaa2 heading for Rs 98 cr / Rs 100 cr Week 1... Week 2 crucial... Will it emerge HIGHEST GROSSER of 2017, after #Baahubali2? Hindi films."

Akshay Kumar's Toilet: Ek Prem Katha released in August to salvage the box office of dullness - it made Rs 83.45 crores in five days, which is two crores less than what Varun's movie has collected in the same duration. However, Judwaa 2 lags behind the records fetched by last year's box office biggies by a noticeable margin - Salman Khan's Sultan was at Rs 105 crore in three days while Dangal was at Rs 107 crore.

Judwaa 2 also stars Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez as Varun Dhawan's two heroines. It is a sequel to Salman Khan's 1997 cult comedy Judwaa and is also directed by Varun's father David Dhawan, who helmed the first part. Salman Khan features in a cameo in Judwaa 2.
