Game Of Thrones Season 7 Episode 6 Leak Explained. With HBO, Who Needs Hackers?

New Delhi: It appears the old gods and new are angry with season 7 of Game Of Thrones. Episode 6 of the cult HBO show has been leaked, days ahead of its scheduled date of airing on the channel. But wait - the 'leak' wasn't of the sort that HBO has been subjected to in the recent weeks - before you blame the hacker who ransomed crucial Game Of Thrones data, you should know that this time, it's reportedly HBO's own fault. HBO Spain accidentally made episode 6 available on-demand four days ahead of Sunday night, reported Independent. Spanish viewers reportedly had access to Game Of Thrones season 7, episode 6 for an entire hour before HBO managed to take it down, according to Independent.

An hour was enough time for those with access to rip and share the episode - footage was posted on platforms such as YouTube and Instagram and the links shared on Reddit. These links have now been taken offline but the full episode was uploaded on torrent sites, Independent reports.

Earlier this month, HBO was held to ransom by hackers who posted scripts of upcoming Game Of Thrones episodes online and demanded $250,000, payable in bitcoins, to stop. The hackers claimed to have Game Of Thrones data measuring up to 1.5 TB and also possess balance sheets, personal contacts of cast members, Game Of Thrones scripts and records of e-mails exchanged between top HBO executives. Meanwhile, four employees of a Mumbai-based company have been arrested for leaking the show in India.
