Few days after Padmavati first posters, featuring Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini, were released, the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, an outfit of the Rajput community, objected to the nature of reference to Alauddin Khilji (played by Ranveer) in the film. The outfit, which had previously objected to the portrayal of certain historical facts in the movie, burnt posters outside Rajmandir Cinema Hall in Jaipur. "While shooting in Jaipur, Sanjay Leela Bhansali (the director) had promised to show the film to us and historians before releasing it. But since then, no one has contacted us, nor has the film been shown to us," Narain Singh Divrala, the district president of Karni Sena, told news agency IANS.
He also claimed that they will not allow Padmavati's release unless Karni Sena approves of certain facts in the film, which according to them, has been distorted. "We will not allow distorted facts to be shown in the film at any cost, and will see to it that the film is not screened in half of India. They are trying to defame Padmavati by distorting historical facts. It is not acceptable," a Karni Sena activist told IANS.

Earlier this year, members of the Rajput outfit disrupted the film's shooting in Jaipur, vandalized the sets, burnt outfits and manhandled Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati is the story of Chittor's Rani Padmini, who performed jauhar with several other Rajput women after Alauddin Khilji invaded their fort. Shahid Kapoor plays Rani Padmini's husband Ratan Singh in the film.
Padmavati releases on December 1.
