Chef Box Office Collection Day 2: Saif Ali Khan's Film Fetches 'Poor' Numbers

New Delhi: Saif Ali Khan's new movie Chef has stopped short of scoring Rs 3 crores in two days. The freshly released movie, opened to make a crore on Friday and has upped its collections by some 30 lakhs on the second day, tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh. "Chef shows limited growth on Day 2. 2-day total is extremely poor. Fri 1.05 crore, Sat 1.35 crore," is how is evaluated the film's performance at the box office. Directed by Raja Krishna Menon's, Chef is a remake of Jon Favreau's 2014 movie titled Chef. Saif Ali Khan's Chef also stars Padmapriya Janakiraman, Dhanish Karthik, Dinesh Prabhakar and Chandan Roy Sanyal.

Chef is Saif Ali Khan's second release this year and casts him as a passionate three-star Michelin chef, who is experiencing existential crisis. Having been fired from work, he returns to home-soil in India to connect with his son and ex-wife and get back his mojo. Saif Ali Khan's film may not have been well received at the box office but promises a delicious culinary tour of cuisines across country.

In his review for NDTV, this is what Saibal Chatterjee has to say about Saif's stint on screen: "Lead actor Saif Ali Khan, operating well within his comfort zone, slips adeptly into the skin of the mercurial Roshan Kalra, a Chandni Chowk man who, as a 15-year-old, ran away from home with dreams of conquering the world with his culinary skills."

On Friday, Chef released along with Barun Sobti's much appreciated movie Tu Hai Mera Sunday.
