At a time when ties between India and Bangladesh have hit a low and Bangladesh seems to be closing the doors on the partnership with India in several areas including the Chittagong Port where it says it is being guided by national interest, India is already considering other options that bypass Bangladesh to ensure that connectivity to the northeast is secure amidst unwarranted comments on India’s northeastern states from Bangladesh. At the Rising Northeast Investment Summit Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Northeast is seeing an infrastructure revolution and becoming a land of opportunity. The Prime Minister also highlighted that India is working on the Kaladan Multi-Modal Project connecting Zorinpui in Mizoram to Myanmar's Sittwe Port which will handle cargo from the Kolkata port in Eastern India via the sea route. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made comment in his address the inaugural ceremony of the Rising Northeast Summit at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.
