Pak's Shelling In Rajouri Has Left Mother-Son Duo Critically Injured, Homes & Schools Damaged

Rajouri (J&K), May 22, 2025 (ANI): Recent shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district has once again left civilians bearing the brunt, with Dhangri village suffering significant damage. The incident caused injuries to several individuals, including a mother and her son who were critically wounded. Initially admitted to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Rajouri, the duo had to be shifted to Amritsar's Amandeep Hospital due to the severity of their injuries. Shockingly, it has emerged that the family is bearing the cost of the treatment on their own, raising serious questions about the lack of institutional support in such conflict-affected zones. The shelling caused substantial damage to residential properties in Dhangri, leaving many homes partially or completely damaged. Residents, already living under the constant fear of cross-border violence, are now grappling with shattered homes and lives. Educational infrastructure was not spared either. Several school buildings were hit, escalating fear among children and their families. Although classes have now resumed in the affected areas, a palpable sense of insecurity lingers among students and parents alike. Local authorities have initiated damage assessment, but affected residents say that immediate compensation and medical support remain inadequate or delayed. With no clear assurance of safety or financial aid, the affected families are left to rebuild their lives on their own. This incident underscores the urgent need for robust civilian protection mechanisms and swift rehabilitation efforts in border areas frequently exposed to cross-border hostilities.
