Normal Life Thrown Out Of Gear, Damage To Life As Heavy Rains Batter North-East

Heavy rains continued to batter parts of the North-East on Sunday, throwing normal life out of gear. In Assam, 8 people have so far died in landslides and floods triggered by the heavy rainfall for the past few days. Major rivers like Brahmaputra and Barak have been flowing over the danger mark and the situation has led to major disruptions in road, rail and air traffic movement. According to officials, over 78,000 residents have been affected so far in more than 15 districts of the state.
