The Union Cabinet has taken a decision to build one more unit under India Semiconductor Mission. Five semiconductor units are in advanced stages of construction, and this will be the sixth. This plant will manufacture display driver chips for mobile phones, laptops, automobiles, PCs, and other devices that have a display. Designed for 20,000 wafers per month for Wafer Level Packaging, and 36 million chips per month, the investment needed will be Rs 3,706 crore. The project is a joint venture between HCL and Foxconn in Uttar Pradesh's Jewar, with job prospects for 2,000 people.
