Explained: What Happens In A Mock Drill, And Why It's Necessary

In the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Ministry of Home Affairs has directed all states and Union Territories to conduct nationwide mock drills on May 7.

The drills are aimed at preparing civilians and authorities for what the MHA has described as "new and complex threats' amid rising tensions with Pakistan. The exercise will involve testing air-raid warning sirens, assessing civil defence preparedness, checking bunker readiness, and reviewing crisis communication protocols.
