China's Influence In Bangladesh Deepens | Beijing Officials Enters The Teesta Project

In today's episode of India Global, A seismic shift has taken place in South Asian geopolitics. China has officially entered the Teesta Project. What seems like development aid may be something far more strategic.Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen has announced not only to fund the long-delayed Teesta water-management project, but to build three major hospitals across Bangladesh. This includes a 1,000-bed gift facility just miles from India's sensitive 22-km-wide Siliguri Corridor also known as the Chicken's Neck. It will be in Nilpha-mari, near the Teesta and perilously close to the Indian border. The Teesta serves as a lifeline for millions in West Bengal. But behind the smiles and aid lies the unmistakable shadow of Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative; a strategic chess game where every move redraws the balance of power. NDTV's Gaurie Dwivedi speaks with Former ADG, BSF Dr PK Mishra, Press Minister at the Bangladesh High Comission Faisal Mahmud, and Former High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Veena Sikri to discuss this and more.
