A massive fire at a hotel in the Burrabazar area of Kolkata has claimed 14 lives. A probe has been ordered into lapses by the hotel management and the police are looking for the owners of the hotel to question them. What started as a minor blaze inside a virtual tinderbox of a hotel quickly escalated into one of the worst fire tragedies in Kolkata in recent memory, claiming the lives of at least 14 people, including a woman and two children. Fire Brigade officials say all the deaths were caused by inhalation of smoke.
