Ram Lakhan will be the second of Subhash Ghai's films to be remade after the just-released Hero, starring newcomers Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty. The 1983 original starred Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Seshadri. The remake will be made jointly by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Rohit Shetty and Mr Ghai's Mukta Arts
