Tata Motors has announced the sales numbers for April 2025. The automaker registered total sales of 72,753 units in April 2025, which is a decrease of 6.2 per cent from the 77,521 units sold in April 2024. The sales of passenger vehicles (PVs) also experienced a slowdown, dropping by 5 per cent year-on-year. In April 2025, the company sold 45,532 PV units, down from 47,983 units in April 2024.
Domestic sales of passenger vehicles amounted to 45,199 units, reflecting a 6 per cent decline compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, export sales in the passenger vehicle sector saw a significant surge of 233 per cent, increasing from just 100 units to 333 units. Sales of electric vehicles (EVs), which are part of the overall passenger vehicle figures, fell drastically by 16 per cent, decreasing from 6,364 units last April to 5,318 units this year.

The commercial vehicle (CV) sector recorded an 8 per cent drop compared to the previous year. In April 2025, the company sold 27,221 commercial vehicles, down from 29,538 units during the same month last year. Within this category, the small commercial vehicle (SCV) and pickup segment witnessed the most considerable decline, with sales plummeting by 23 per cent, from 11,823 units to 9,131 units. Sales of heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) trucks also experienced an 8 per cent drop.
Some sub-segments saw increases; sales of intermediate and light commercial vehicle (ILMCV) trucks rose by 8 per cent, while sales of passenger carriers grew by 4 per cent. Interestingly, the international business for commercial vehicles (CV IB) showed strong growth, increasing by 43 per cent year-on-year-from 1,022 to 1,457 units-although this was starting from a relatively low baseline.
For medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MH&ICV), which include both buses and trucks, domestic sales decreased to 12,093 units in April 2025 from 12,722 units in April 2024. Combining both domestic and international sales, the total reached 12,760 units, down 3.5 per cent from last year's total of 13,218 units.
